MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) - Police say a man turned himself in to officers in connection with a hit-and-run accident that injured a New Hampshire state trooper.

The man, identified as 43-year-old Eric Jackson, of Amherst, was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of conduct after an accident. He also was cited for violating the state’s “Move Over Law,” which requires drivers to slow down and switch to an outer lane when there is police activity.

Police say the trooper, Ryan Hickey, was hit during a traffic stop Sunday on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack. He was standing next to his cruiser. Hickey, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was in court Wednesday.

Police seized a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer believed to be the vehicle which struck Hickey.

Jackson is free on $6,000 bail. His lawyer said he’s looking forward to confronting the matter.
