BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York teenager has pleaded guilty in the boating accident death of his girlfriend last year.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 18-year-old Gregory Green of North Tonawanda pleaded guilty Tuesday to criminally negligent homicide and vehicular manslaughter in the death of Avery Gardner of Lockport.

Prosecutors say 51-year-old Timothy Wisniewski of Tonawanda went out on his boat with Green and Gardner on Ellicott Creek in Tonawanda last June after a night of drinking.

Officials say Green was intoxicated and high on marijuana when he drove the boat recklessly at a high rate of speed.

Gardner stood up while the boat was moving and hit her head on a footbridge. She later died.

Green faces up to 7 years in jail when he’s sentenced Aug. 16.

Wisniewski’s trial is pending.
