OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police say one of its officers shot and killed a man on a city street after the man pulled a knife in a threatening manner.

Capt. Paco Balderrama told The Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/22pwlzj ) that the officer was patrolling an area west of downtown when he encountered the man. Balderrama said he didn’t know why the officer approached, but that after giving instructions the man refused to comply.

Balderrama said the man went into the middle of a street and that when the officer approached, the man pulled a knife and threatened the officer. The officer fired a gun.

The names of the dead man and the officer have not been released. The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.
