CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) - A former Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher has been charged after police say he inappropriately touched a student in a classroom.
Media outlets report 32-year-old Stephen B. Cason was arrested Monday and charged with sexual battery.
Chesterfield police Sgt. Brad Conner says Cason is accused of inappropriately touching the female teenager in a sexual manner. The alleged incident occurred sometime between Nov. 1 and Dec. 10, but police say the victim didn’t report it until this month.
Cason is a former marketing teacher at the Carver College and Career Academy, an alternative high school for students who have difficulty learning in more traditional settings.
Chesterfield schools spokesman Shawn Smith said Cason is no longer employed with the district.
It’s unclear whether Cason was an attorney to comment on the charge.
