WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) - A retrial has been set for a 19-year-old man charged with killing a Chester city councilman.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg (https://bit.ly/27S5tfe ) reports that Christopher Moore is expected to go back on trial June 27 in Fairfield County to face a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of 69-year-old Chester City Councilman Odell Williams.
A jury last month was deadlocked in trying to determine whether Moore had committed murder by shooting Williams in November 2014.
Prosecutors said Moore shot Williams after the councilman followed him and four other gang members because he heard they planned a robbery. The defense argued Moore shot Williams in self-defense.
The trial was moved to Fairfield County because of pre-trial media coverage in Chester County.
