ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - The executive director of Rockford’s international airport says construction of a $41 million jet repair hub is on schedule and under budget.
Mike Dunn is executive director of the Chicago Rockford International Airport. He told the Rockford Register Star (https://bit.ly/22oZXNb) Tuesday that the 200,000-square-foot facility is expected to complete by late June. He says Wood Dale-based AAR Corp. hopes to begin operations by September. The company will pay $400,000 annually to rent the facility.
The facility is expected to create 500 jobs within a year and another 500 jobs within two to three years. About a third of the jobs will go to Rock Valley College students who complete an aviation maintenance program. Another third of the employees will already be AAR workers and the last third will be hired technicians.
