NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Police say an 8-year-old boy has been hit and killed by a garbage truck in Newport Beach.
Police Lt. Jeff Brouwer says the child appeared to be on a bicycle when he and the truck collided on Wednesday afternoon, but it’s not entirely clear as the investigation begins.
Brower says the child was declared dead at the scene, which is near Newport Heights Elementary School and Newport Harbor High School.
The child’s name has not been released.
