HAHNVILLE, La. (AP) - A St. John the Baptist Parish deputy sheriff has been suspended indefinitely after he was arrested in neighboring St. Charles Parish on a charge of possession of marijuana and crack cocaine.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/1OXrF10 ) reports 23-year-old Barry Conner II, of LaPlace, was stopped about 1:17 a.m. Wednesday in Boutte because a headlight was out on his vehicle. St. Charles Parish deputies say they found marijuana, cocaine and a Glock pistol in the vehicle.

In addition to the drug charges, Conner was arrested for possession of a gun in the presence of drugs and driving without headlights. He’s being held in the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center under a $25,000 bond.

Conner has worked for the St. John sheriff’s office for less than a year. He was assigned to the parish jail.
