CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Grant applications to the West Virginia Humanities Council can now be submitted online.

The council recently added the feature to its website, enabling applications to be submitted electronically at https://www.wvhumanities.org/grants .

The council budgets more than $600,000 annually for grants and programs for educational programming in history and other fields of the humanities in West Virginia communities.

West Virginia nonprofit organizations are eligible for the grants. Grants range up to $25,000 and support a variety of activities. The next deadline is June 1.

In the last year, the council awarded 70 grants and provided funding for more than 250 programs, exhibits and presentations at libraries, museums, colleges and universities, senior centers and other locations.
