LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A Douglas County prosecutor whose father was a judge has been chosen for a district court judgeship in eastern Nebraska.
Gov. Pete Ricketts announced Wednesday that he’s selected 45-year-old George Thompson. His father, also named George Thompson, was a Sarpy county judge for more than 20 years.
The son is replacing Max Kelch in the state’s 2nd Judicial District, which covers Cass, Otoe and Sarpy counties. Kelch was appointed to the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Thompson has been a prosecutor in the Douglas County attorney’s office since 1998. He and his family live in the Sarpy County city of Papillion (puh-PIHL’-yuhn).
