PHOENIX (AP) - A man suspected in a deadly stabbing near a Phoenix high school last month is in custody.

Phoenix police say 24-year-old Christopher Canada is facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

They say Canada is suspected of fatally stabbing 18-year-old Lavon Moore on April 19.

Moore and a 17-year-old boy both were stabbed and were found just east of Cesar Chavez High School.

Moore reportedly told police the stabbing occurred over money.

He was stabbed in the chest while the 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the bicep and torso.

Moore died from his injuries eight days later.

Police used surveillance video to identify and locate a female witness to the stabbings and she identified Canada.
