SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - The 76th Sumter Iris Festival is opening with a ribbon cutting and celebration marked by an array of food, music and dancing.
The Sumter Item reports (https://bit.ly/1NNHF5q ) that Thursday’s events begin at 5 p.m. at the Heath Pavilion in Swan Lake-Iris Gardens.
Following the opening ceremonies, people may walk from the pavilion to the Garden Street Stage where a band is playing beach music and a wide variety of food is available for purchase from local restaurants and providers.
From 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, children’s entertainment will be available throughout the day as well as a series of concerts, dance recitals and musical entertainment.
