ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta City Council could soon vote on a property swap involving a city-owned Buckhead golf course and state-owned land adjacent to the Underground Atlanta shopping complex, which is set for redevelopment.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/25iV75X ) reports the council’s finance committee Wednesday forwarded the proposal to the council without a recommendation. The council could vote on it June 6.

Under the proposal, the state would receive the Bobby Jones Golf Course, the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center and Atlanta Memorial Park, while the city would acquire property near Underground Atlanta, including a parking deck.

Mayor Kasim Reed has said the parking deck is necessary for a developer’s planned overhaul of the downtown shopping center.

The state is planning to construct a Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and renovate the 18-hole course into a nine-hole course.
