ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A federal appeals court has rejected a request for a new trial by a western Pennsylvania woman convicted in a bizarre bank robbery plot that killed a pizza deliveryman forced to wear a bomb collar.

Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong is serving a life sentence in the Erie bank robbery plot that ended in the 2003 death of 46-year-old Brian Wells.

The Erie Times-News reports (https://bit.ly/21sZGrZ ) that the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected her appeal of a federal judge’s December refusal to grant her a new trial.

The court’s one-page ruling said the 67-year-old Erie woman’s claims are “meritless or procedurally barred.”

Wells died when the bomb locked to his neck exploded after he robbed a bank.
