Bicyclist dies after he’s struck by school bus in Covington

COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) - Police say a bicyclist has died after he was struck by a school bus at an intersection in Covington.

The Covington News reports (bit.ly/1SL2KdB) that the crash involving a Newton County School System bus happened shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Covington police say the 45-year-old man was struck by the bus after he entered a crosswalk. They say the bus was turning from U.S. 278 onto Alcovy Road.

The cyclist was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.
