DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Officials say they believe the body of a missing swimmer has washed up onto a Florida beach.

Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Capt. Tammy Marris says a beachgoer found the body Tuesday morning in Ormond-by-the-Sea, which is 11 miles north of the spot where the Canadian man went missing on Monday afternoon.

The newspaper says the man had been in the water with friends when he disappeared.

Marris says there was a strong current to the north on Monday and the beach officials were flying the red warning flag.
