LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Travelers can get information about 20 state and national byways and tour routes in Michigan from a newly developed electronic booklet.

State Transportation Director Kirk Steudle says the Pure Michigan Byways and Tour Routes Driving Guide includes photos, videos, maps, route descriptions and other material.

Its arrival is part of the introduction of Pure Michigan Byways, formerly the Heritage Route Program.

Each byway description highlights scenic, natural, historical, cultural and archaeological attractions along the route. There’s also information about availability of services, time needed to drive the routes and best times of year to take them.

The guide is available for download from the Michigan Department of Transportation website. Desk copies for reference will be available at each of the state’s 14 welcome centers.
