HAVRE, Mont. (AP) - A Havre man has been sentenced to two years on probation for backing over his cousin’s 1-year-old daughter with his vehicle last summer while under the influence of marijuana.
The Havre Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1Odid3Y) Riley Hardwood earlier pleaded guilty to criminal child endangerment. Prosecutors filed the charge after a blood test indicated THC in Harwood’s blood.
Court records say the girl’s mother lost track of her as Harwood was leaving her house. The girl was treated for her injuries at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The girl’s mother testified Monday that her daughter was fine and suffered no brain damage.
District Judge Daniel Boucher required Harwood to undergo a mental health and chemical dependency evaluation. The sentence gives Harwood the opportunity to have the offense removed from his criminal record.
