DALLAS (AP) - The longtime president of the Dallas Summer Musicals has been fired.

A statement Monday night from the musical shows series said Michael Jenkins was no longer president and managing director. Jenkins is a longtime Broadway supporter who led the Dallas Summer Musicals since 1994.

David Hyslop takes over as interim managing director.

The statement says the DSM has suffered financial losses every season, except for one, since 2008. Shows are performed at the Music Hall at Fair Park. A competing venue, the Winspear Opera House, opened in 2009.

The 74-year-old Jenkins in March filed a federal age discrimination complaint, saying leaders of the Dallas Summer Musicals wanted to fire him because he refused to retire.

The DSM statement said Hyslop is 73 years old and an arts management veteran.
