KENNER, La. (AP) - Police say a 28-year-old man faces two counts of first-degree murder after evidence linked him to the deaths of a couple shot to death in a bedroom while their infant slept in their bed.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser announced the charges on Tuesday against Shaun Barnett of Avondale, Louisiana.

Thirty-one-year-old Raynell Kimbrough and 28-year-old Dawn Scott were killed April 4. Police said the couple’s infant was not injured nor were two boys, ages 10 and 2, sleeping in another room.

Barnett was arrested on April 4 for parole violations. Glaser said Barnett was considered a person of interest and that he had been seen driving away from the area after the killings. Police say Barnett also faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
