DENVER (AP) - A man charged with fatally shooting a man outside a strip club in Denver last year has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1W42kEP ) that 32-year-old Stephen Futrell pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Friday in the death of 29-year-old Jeremy Garcia. Prosecutors with the Denver District Attorney’s Office say a first-degree murder charge and a weapons charge were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Investigators say Futrell shot Garcia on Sept. 13, 2015, after the two got into an altercation inside PT’s Showclub.

Futrell faces a prison sentence of up to 40 years when he’s sentenced in June.
