ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York conservation and education officials say the state has published a new book about its freshwater fish.

“The Atlas of Inland Fishes of New York” was authored by the Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Museum staff following years of research and field work.

It describes present and past distribution of all 181 native and introduced freshwater fish species in New York.

It includes an illustration of each, brief description of its habitat and native range and maps for all but two species.

The atlas is available for download on the museum’s website (https://bit.ly/1W4Bo8zat ).
