ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - An Orlando police officer has been charged with driving under the influence following a hit-and-run crash in Manatee County.

The Orlando Police Department announced Monday that they’re arrested 33-year-old Michael Lemmerman on a DUI charge and relieved him of his duties pending an internal investigation.

Police say Lemmerman struck two parked cars at a Bradenton apartment complex Saturday morning before fleeing. Lemmerman was off duty at the time. The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

A sheriff’s deputy later stopped Lemmerman near the scene after authorities say he was swerving on the roadway.

It’s unclear if Lemmerman has an attorney.
