SLOVAN, Pa. (AP) - A woman charged with stealing roughly $310,000 from an elderly fellow churchgoer must spend 21 years on probation, during which she must repay some of the money.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter (https://bit.ly/24nbl0Q ) says 44-year-old Goldie Fields was sentenced by a Washington County judge.

Detectives say Fields told the 82-year-old victim she needed the money for nursing school so she could support her family with a job at a local care home. Eventually, Fields allegedly also told the victim that without that job security, she’d also never be able to repay the victim.

Fields was sentenced after pleading no contest to theft charges, which also included stealing about $90,000 from a second woman, too.

She’s disputed the amount stolen and must make $350 monthly payments to repay $140,000 she acknowledges receiving.
