HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The Forrest County Board of Supervisors is considering how to help out with Hattiesburg airport repairs caused by flooding last month.

The Hattiesburg American reports (https://hatne.ws/1SWiEE0 ) supervisors considered a request Monday to participate in $195,220 worth of damage caused to property at Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport, with Jones County to pay half of that amount.

Airport executive director Tom Heanue sent the letter to both counties about the damage, saying the airport would be seeking Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance and has been added to the FEMA list.

Forrest County District 5 Supervisor Chris Bowen says they are waiting to learn more about whether Jones County or the airport is going to take the lead on the FEMA reimbursement.

Supervisors are expected to discuss the matter at the May 16 meeting.
