SEATTLE (AP) - State transportation officials say the tunneling machine known as Bertha is about a third of the way toward the 385 feet needed before the Alaskan Way Viaduct can reopen.
KCPQ-TV reports (https://is.gd/kFI4Gb ) the machine had tunneled 131 feet by Tuesday evening.
The viaduct was closed to traffic at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and is scheduled to remain closed for two weeks, while Bertha tunnels under the structure.
The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Bertha tracking page shows the machine’s progress. The next update is expected on Tuesday morning.
