KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - A Klamath County man has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison after accepting a plea deal in which a charge of attempted murder was dismissed.

Tony Krank of Chiloquin pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

The Herald and News reports (https://is.gd/SeDlQ9 ) that the 39-year-old man was arrested in February after chasing a man with an ax and seriously injuring the victim’s arm. During the attack, Krank dropped the ax and continued the assault with a wooden plank until the victim was unconscious.

A psychological evaluation was submitted to the court, but not made public.
