NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A former high ranking officer with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Roy Austin entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt Wednesday

Prosecutors say Austin was charged in an overbilling scheme involving off-duty deputy details.

Engelhardt set sentencing for Aug. 3.

Austin faces up to five years in prison.
