SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The trial of a Holyoke man charged with fatally stabbing another man during an argument is coming to a close.

The Republican newspaper reports that closing statements in the murder trial of 42-year-old Jorge Rodriguez-Nieves are scheduled for Wednesday in Hampden Superior Court.

Prosecutors say Rodriguez-Nieves stabbed 33-year-old Angel David Morales in the neck on July 13, 2014, severing a major artery and his windpipe. They say the suspect was angry because he thought Morales was saying that Rodriguez-Nieves was cheating on his wife.

Authorities say the suspect chased the victim down the street, jumped on him when he fell, and stabbed him.

Rodriguez-Nieves’ lawyer said there are discrepancies in witness accounts of the stabbing.

Prosecutors say the victim’s blood was found on the suspect’s clothes.
