NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - North Charleston police say a man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run involving a moped.

Authorities say that 61-year-old Leroy Snipe of Charleston was riding a moped on March 7 when the vehicle was hit from the rear and he was thrown off. The driver of the other vehicle drove away.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says that 18-year-old Damein Birch of Charleston has been charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in the case.
