MANNS HARBOR, N.C. (AP) - The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division is scheduled to participate in a security drill covering multiple agencies.
A statement from the department said the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response security exercise is scheduled for Wednesday.
The exercise will be held in cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration, the Craven and Carteret County sheriff’s departments and emergency services, the U.S. Coast Guard, and ferry terminals at Cherry Branch, Minnesott Beach, Bayview, Aurora, and Cedar Island, and all ferry vessels attached.
This is an exercise in which local and federal agencies work together to supplement existing security resources.
Officials say the exercise is not in response to any threat to the country, the terminals, ferry vessels, or any other transportation venue or facility.
