NEW YORK (AP) - A 42-year-old podiatrist and his girlfriend have been arrested on charges they plotted to kill his wife and beat up two insurance investigators probing his medical practice.
Ira Bernstein and 36-year-old Kelly Myzner Gribeluk were arraigned Tuesday in Ramapo on conspiracy and solicitation charges. Both were being held on $600,000 bail.
Authorities say they learned of the plot a month ago by an informant allegedly hired to kill the wife. They began a sting operation, employing makeup artists to make the insurance agents looked roughed up. Authorities say the suspects paid the informant after seeing the agent’s photos.
Bernstein’s lawyer said his client plans on being vindicated of the charges.
At the arraignment, Gribeluk’s lawyer said the Rockland resident and real estate agent didn’t have the means to post bail.
