PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gov. Gina Raimondo is traveling to Silicon Valley for a three-day trip to persuade companies to invest in Rhode Island.

The Democrat was scheduled to leave for San Francisco on Wednesday morning and return Friday.

Her office says she’ll be meeting with company executives and trying to sell Rhode Island as a strategic location with top universities and a skilled workforce.

A spokeswoman declined to name the companies Raimondo is visiting.

The former venture capitalist last year asked Connecticut-based General Electric to move its headquarters to Providence. GE says it seriously considered Rhode Island before opting to move to Boston.

Raimondo also pitched Rhode Island’s inclusivity to executives at San Jose-based PayPal after the company canceled its North Carolina expansion over that state’s law affecting transgender people.
