FENTON, Mo. (AP) - A kindergarten teacher in Fenton who thought she was getting a staff award during a school assembly was surprised when her long-time boyfriend proposed to her with the help of her students.

KSDK-TV (https://on.ksdk.com/2fsa1qK) reports that students at Stanton Elementary gathered last week and school officials called teacher Torrie Buehne forward. A video featuring Buehne’s former students explaining what love means to each of them was played.

The end of the video included pictures of Buehne and her boyfriend, Brett Wolf. Wolf then walked out and proposed as students and faculty cheered.

The school assembly was held to also raise money for first responders. Buehne’s father is a firefighter, so he was at the school and witnessed the proposal.
