SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old trick-or-treater was seriously injured in Santa Rosa after she was stuck by a driver in the rain Halloween night.

Police say another girl, a 4-year-old, was also struck but not injured.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2fr5PHQ ) Tuesday that the 60-year-old driver made a left turn while a group of trick-or-treaters crossed an intersection.

Officials say the girl was conscious and talking before paramedics took her to a hospital. The 4-year-old did not require medical attention.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Officials do not believe alcohol or distracted driving due to cell phone use were factors in the accident, the newspaper reported.
