NEW YORK (AP) - Three New York City correction officers have pleaded guilty to covering up an assault on a Rikers Island inmate.

Moises Simancas, Tyrone Wint and April Jackson pleaded guilty Thursday in the Bronx to falsifying business records.

District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says that when the incident occurred in 2012, inmates were being confined in their cells longer than usual after Superstorm Sandy.

Prosecutors say tensions were running high at the jail when the inmate was handcuffed, escorted to a vestibule and beaten.

Clark says the three officers falsified reports about the incident.

They face up to five years of probation.
