COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A St. Tammany Parish sheriff’s deputy who fatally shot a 24-year-old Madisonville man after a short car chase in March will not face charges.
The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/2eFD1Wr ) a spokeswoman for District Attorney Warren Montgomery made the announcement Thursday.
Joshua Douglas was shot once by deputies after he crashed in a neighborhood just north of Interstate 12 near Mandeville.
Then-Sheriff Jack Strain turned the case over to the Louisiana State Police to investigate, a break from his usual practice of handling such discipline in-house.
