KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Mohave County sheriff’s deputy who fatally shot a Kingman man after a traffic stop last month.

Bullhead City police detectives, who are investigating the shooting, said Thursday that 40-year-old Mark Giralde remains on administrative leave.

Giralde has been with the sheriff’s office for eight years.

Investigators say Giralde was conducting a traffic stop Oct. 29 on a car driven by 34-year-old Kenneth Jack Kennedy.

The suspect tried to flee in his car and hit two police vehicles as a result.

Kennedy allegedly drove toward the deputy, who fired at him.

Police say Kennedy died at the scene. His wife was also in the car but was not injured.
