Washington Redskins’ wide receiver DeSean Jackson is listed as doubtful to play in Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to coach Jay Gruden.
Jackson has missed the last three practices with a shoulder injury.
According to Gruden, an MRI did reveal that there is something going on with Jackson’s shoulder.
“The MRI just showed some issues there in his shoulder with the rotator cuff,” Gruden said. “He does have some things going on there, but we’ll make a determination Saturday whether or not it’s best to keep him out this week and try to get it stronger for the last seven.”
If Jackson is unable to go, Gruden said that a mixture of Jamison Crowder and Ryan Grant will replace Jackson’s role in base formations, while Maurice Harris and Rashad Ross could also see a bit more time.
Gruden said that whether Jackson plays or not really only depends on how much his shoulder can handle.
“Now it’s just a matter of how he’s feeling with his strength,” Gruden said. “We’ll see. He hasn’t had any practice this week, which is not good, but when you’re a veteran like he is, you can make an exception for missing a practice from time-to-time.”
Additionally, safety Will Blackmon (shoulder), offensive tackle Morgan Moses (ankle) and safety Duke Ihenacho (concussion) will be questionable.
Both Blackmon and Moses said that they expect they will be able to play. Blackmon, who has been playing with a wrapped left hand to protect his surgically repaired thumb, said that he wasn’t feeling any discomfort in his thumb earlier this week.
“My hand feels awesome,” Blackmon said. “Everything went well. Standard, took care of it, [got] a couple of pins in it last week. I’ll be good to go. It’s as simple as that.”
Blackmon, who has been returning some kicks and punts this season, will not be given the duty against the Vikings.
“No, he won’t be a kick returner for us,” Gruden said. “Not with a cast on his thumb.”
Ihenacho has been limited throughout the week in practice with a concussion. However, according to Gruden, Ihenacho is out of the league’s concussion protocol.
“He’s been cleared for practice, but we still have to monitor him every day, just make sure he’s OK,” Gruden said.
The Redskins take on the Minnesota Vikings Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
