TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - An escaped prisoner who carjacked a vehicle in Scottsdale last month is back in custody after a second alleged carjacking.
KPHO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2fESHev) that 28-year-old Rodolfo Avalos has been booked on armed robbery charges this week.
Tempe police say a man reported his car stolen at gunpoint from outside his home Wednesday afternoon in the area of Mill Avenue and Broadway Road.
Avalos was spotted driving the car and then abandoning it to flee on foot.
Officers searched the area and found him hiding in a camp trailer.
Avalos is accused of escaping a Scottsdale emergency room while under the watch of a Salt River police officer Oct. 21.
He then allegedly carjacked a woman and drove away. Her car was later found abandoned in Phoenix.
