TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - Officials on Tybee Island have selected the international search firm Stanton Chase to find their next city manager.
Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/2fJtHTS) council members voted 4-2 this week to pay Stanton Chase what they estimated to be about $30,000 to find a successor for City Manager Diane Schleicher, who will retire in early March.
Mayor Jason Buelterman pushed strongly for Stanton Chase, which was hired by Chatham County in 2013 when it began the search that ultimately resulted in County Manager Lee Smith.
While he agreed the costs were high, the mayor said the work done by Stanton Chase would be worth the expense. He says Tybee Island is a complex city, one that grows in population from about 3,000 full-time residents to about 40,000 during its busiest months.
