Fearing his girlfriend of four years may be deported in a Trump administration, 1980s teen heartthrob Corey Feldman proposed to 27-year-old Canadian lingerie model Courtney Anne Mitchell recently, People magazine reported Wednesday

Although he described them both as “anti-marriage since we met,” Mr. Feldman told People that “seeing as she’s Canadian and with [Donald] Trump coming in, we didn’t want to risk being separated by new immigration laws.”

Under current immigration law, foreign fashion models typically acquire an H1-B3 visa to work legally in the United States. To get one, an applicant must prove him or herself “a fashion model of distinguished merit and ability,” according to the website for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.

As for the proposal itself?

“The pair were in Palm Springs at Two Bunch Palms Resort when Feldman popped the question with a middle school-style adorable note,” People said. “Will You Mary Me?” read the note, with two check boxes, one for yes and one for no.

Despite the misspelling, the Playboy alumna said yes.

“We are planning a small, secret wedding just for family, very soon,” Mr. Feldman told People. “We will likely have a big public wedding for friends and media to attend within a year.”
