LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The Laramie Parks and Recreation Department is working to relocate beavers that have taken up residence at LaPrele Park.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/2fcCHjM ) that the department has set a number of traps in the park and plans to relocate the beavers around Albany County.

The parks department has posted signs warning park visitors to keep children and pets away from the traps.

Laramie Parks and Recreation Director Todd Feezer says the beavers are gnawing their way through young trees and bushes in the park. He also says there is a concern the growing beaver damn on Spring Creek could cause flooding downstream.

Spring Creek is part of the storm water system and Feezer says flooding could damage housing in residential areas as far as west Laramie.
