NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A North Charleston elementary school teacher has reached her goal of raising enough money to get every student a bike for Christmas.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/2el1cwp) that first-grade teacher Katie Blomquist started a GoFundMe campaign in September to raise money to get bicycle for all 650 students at Pepperhill Elementary.

She had raised more than $45,000 of the $65,000 needed for the project late last month.

She was invited to appear on the “Steve Harvey” show in Chicago to promote her cause. The talk show host gave Blomquist two donations totaling $20,000 from herbal supplement supplier Dherbs and Green Dot Corp.

Blomquist says she was stunned.

She says she now wants to “spread the love” to students at other low-income schools.
