WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say they’ve arrested a preschooler’s father after the 3-year-old boy brought a loaded gun to school.

Local media organizations reported that a security guard at an elementary school in the nation’s capital found the gun in the backpack of the boy Tuesday morning. Police said the gun was a semi-automatic pistol.

Police say 31-year-old Anthony Earl Chiles was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of unregistered ammunition and recklessly endangering a child’s health.

An online court record system did not have the case or an attorney for Chiles listed Wednesday afternoon.
