WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Officials say a Wilmington high school student has been shot to death while visiting with friends in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Alexis I. duPont High School Principal Kevin Palladinetti told the school community in an email Tuesday evening that Taymir Germany was fatally shot while riding in a car in Chester, Pennsylvania.

No other details into the shooting were immediately known.

Germany was a senior at the school.

Germany’s death is the second incidence of gun violence to affect the high school community in the last two weeks.

Tommy Vandergrift, a 19-year-old who graduated from the school this summer, was shot while attending a party at a home near Newport on Oct. 27. Palladinetti says Vandergrift “continues to fight for his life.”
