LAKELAND, Minn. (AP) - Investigators believe a fire that destroyed a city hall under construction east of the Twin Cities was intentionally set.

The project had divided the community of Lakeland on whether it should have gone forward and it became an issue in the mayor’s race.

Mayor-elect Richard Glasgow wanted to preserve the historic city hall while his opponent, incumbent Amy Williams favored the new construction.

The Minnesota Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of those responsible.
