HONOLULU (AP) - The Latest on U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s meeting with President-elect Donald Trump (all times local):

1:30 p.m.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard says Gabbard was not offered a job when she met with President-elect Donald Trump Monday.

The meeting was held at Trump Tower in New York at a time when Trump has been vetting potential candidates for positions in his administration.

Gabbard spokeswoman Erika Tsuji said in an email that Gabbard “did not meet with President-elect Trump seeking a job, nor did he offer her one.”

Tsuji says Gabbard “loves the job she has, serving the people of Hawaii in Congress.”

Gabbard said in the email she met with Trump to discuss legislation she introduced to end the war in Syria. She says every day the war continues, more children are dying and families are fleeing and becoming refugees.

9:30 a.m.

U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has met with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York.

Gabbard, a Democrat, said Monday in a statement the meeting was about the nation’s policies regarding Syria, fighting terrorism and other foreign policy challenges.

Trump has been meeting with potential candidates for positions in his administration. Gabbard’s statement did not say whether they talked about a position. In a follow-up email, a spokeswoman reiterated the meeting was about Syria and foreign policy.

Gabbard says she thought it was important to accept Trump’s invitation to meet before the nation is dragged into a war to overthrow the Syrian government.

She says where she disagrees with Trump on issues, she won’t hesitate to express disagreement, but she believes they can come together on issues that matter.
