COLUMBIANA, Ala. (AP) - A 43-year-old man charged two weeks ago in the slaying of an Alabaster store clerk has now been indicted.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/2fl4uNv) a Shelby County grand jury on Thursday issued the capital murder indictment against 43-year-old Michael Anthony Powell. That’s according to records made public Monday. Authorities say Powell killed 54-year-old Tracy Latty Algar in the bathroom of Kirkland Chevron on Oct. 20. Only several hundred dollars were taken in the holdup.

Police say Algar, who only worked every third Sunday at the store, was killed not long after she got to work that Sunday morning.
