PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police have released the name of the man shot and killed by an intruder in a Providence apartment this week.
The victim of the shooting at about 3 a.m. Monday was identified Tuesday as 28-year-old Carlos Rivera.
Police say an intruder forced their way into a Cranston Street apartment in the city’s West End and shot the victim, who it is believed lived at the address. Friends and relatives say Rivera was a hip hop artist and devoted father.
Several other people, including children, were thought to be in the apartment at the time but there were no other reported injuries.
Police think the victim and shooter knew each other, and that the victim was targeted.
No arrests have been announced.
